Karmin's I Want it All on MTV BuzzWorthy

Karmin’s Crazy Catchy ‘I Want It All’ Gets A Roller Disco-Inspired Lyric Video

 by  in celebritymusicvideos.

Karmin deliver a lyric video for their catchy new disco single, "I Want It All."

Karmin want it all, and they’re busting out tons of ’70s-throwback goodness to get it.

Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan — the musical duo and adorbs IRL couple otherwise known as Karmin — are back. And this time, they’re heading to the multi-colored, illuminated dance floor.

Ever the pop chameleons, the YouTube sensations have coasted their way through as many styles as Gaga has wigs over the past few years, bringing tons of our faves to mind — from the Rihanna-lite vocals of “Hello” to the Katy Perrycrunch of “Brokenhearted.”

With “I Want It All,” the duo enlist some au courant synthesizers and Studio 54-friendly bells and whistles for some nasty disco revival, reminding us of last year’s Pharrell-helmed dance-floor smashes like Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” andRobin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.”

It’s a total jam. In fact, um, it’s kind of unstoppably catchy. Sort of obsessed. That brass section! Those “da-da-da” melodies! Those flashing lights and the sheer glamour of it all! Karmin’s latest single is serving some pure, unbridled disco fever.

Today, Amy and Nick dropped the song’s accompanying lyric video, which shows sketchily animated versions of the two lacing up their skates and heading down to the rink for a little roller disco. Actually, it all kind of look like the concept sketches for a real music video, in a very a-ha sort of way. Could it be a preview of what’s to come?

Either way, Karmin’s pretty much killin’ it with this one.

Karmin Go Deep on 'Pulses'

In the two years since their cover of Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now" made Karmin Internet stars, the duo of Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan have enjoyed a lot of big moments. They won a contest to appear on the flip cover of Rolling Stone, performed at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, and made multiple visits to the American Music Awards.

What makes all of these accomplishments more amazing is that they've done it without the benefit of a full-length album. That will end in September, when the pair release Pulses, with cover art revealed here for the first time.

When Rolling Stone visited the pair at a recent taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live, where they performed their new single "Acapella" as well as "Try Me On," Heidemann and Noonan explained the album's title.

"We want to call it Pulses because it's kind of like the honeymoon is over now," Noonan said. "There's good and bad. It's not necessarily everything is happy-go-lucky tracks. There's also some serious stuff. There's definitely a lot more depth in it, which is something we've always felt we wanted to do."

"There's a track called 'Paranoia,' and it's, like, super creepy," Heidemann added.

Karmin may have attracted attention from their You Tube covers, but the duo are eager to show off a wider range with a full album's worth of material. "The last release was an EP. There were seven tracks. We thought that was going to be a full-length – we recorded a bunch of music," Heidemann explained. "So this time there are interludes and intros. There's a lot more of us, and a lot more breathing time."

Noonan, who was heavily involved in the production of Pulses, believes the band is developing what he calls "a Karmin sound." But he says that "Acapella," the lead single, is not completely indicative of the rest of the album.

"I don't know if the whole sound of the album is done with 808 – most of the tracks do have 808, but there are a couple four-to-the-floor tracks. The difference is for this one we had our band in for the whole session. They're playing everything. I'm playing everything."

They'll get to show off that sound opening for the Jonas Brothers this summer. The pair go back a few years with the brothers. "We knew Joe from the first time we were doing Jingle Balls in 2011 and we were just playing cover songs, doing 15, 20 minutes. Just us and a keyboard," Noonan recalled. "He came in and said hi and he's like, ‘Dude, I've been watching all your stuff.' It was really cool, really dope."

What really impressed Noonan, though, was that Joe could take a joke. "I kept giving him all this shit 'cause he's a Jonas Brother. And he just took it and gave it right back. He was hilarious. So we got along really super well," Noonan said.

Heidemann is excited for the tour, which kicked off July 10th in Chicago. "They actually play real instruments, which is great," she said. She hopes to have some friendly competition with the Jo Bros.

"It's a 40-minute opening set. After our softball game in the parking lots, we go on," she said. "We're gonna have a softball league, I think, with the Jonas Brothers. I think we can beat them." Nick, however, is "really good at softball."

Karmin Declare Independence in
'Acapella' – Premiere
Watch the lyric video for the duo's new single

"All the harmony went fallin' out of key," Karmin lament in "Acapella," the duo's new ode to independence born from disappointment. For the lead single off Karmin's as-yet-untitled forthcoming new album, Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan turn their signature mix of electro-pop and rap into an aggressive, thumping kiss-off, with shout-outs to Olive Garden and gluten-free living. So what do you do when your rich boyfriend isn't all he's cracked up to be? You hit it solo.

Who Is Karmin? From YouTube Stardom to 'Saturday Night Live'

Heidemann and Noonan first broke out with a series of viral-hit covers of artists like Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, before striking off into their own territory with their first album of original material, Hello, in May 2012. The new single carries on their theme of casting off old constraints and going your own way.

"Acapella was created almost exclusively with human voices," says Heidemann. "We flipped the original meaning of Acapella to mean 'D.I.Y.' or should we say 'D.I.A. - Do It Acapella!'"

Did Stevie J Find Another Woman To “Get On His Bus” While Judging The BMI Urban Showcase?

Has Stevie J got his eye on some new talent? Last night the “Love & Hip-Hop” star and his artist/girlfriend Joseline Hernandez were in the building for BMI”s 15th Annual Unsigned Urban Showcase.

Jade Novah

BOSSIP was also in the building for the sold out event, which was headlined by Curren$y, but one of our favorite moments had to be when Stevie J was asked his opinion on Jade Novah’s performance and he responded “She can get on the bus!” which was only topped by Joseline snatching the mic and adding her two cents. Jade Novah’s performance was pretty dope though, even though she didn’t win the showcase.

Karmin and Coach team up with Rachel Zoe for Christmas!

2012-11-27 14:18:41

Now that we’ve sufficiently stuffed ourselves with turkey, the Black Friday sales are over, and we took complete advantage of Cyber Monday, it’s time to turn our attention to all things holiday. When it comes to seasonal songs, we’re all about Mariah Carey‘s classic, “All I Want For  Christmas,” but this year, Coach is adding a new tune to our rotation!

As we count down the days to Christmas, Coach is celebrating the festivities by pairing two influential powerhouses when it comes to music and style, Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan of Karmin with Rachel Zoe! The trio filmed their own version of “Sleigh Ride,” mixing Karmin’s musical talent with Zoe’s styling and Coach’s outwear, bags, shoes, and accessories. Given Zoe’s well-known (and much appreciated aesthetic) and Karmin’s catchy “organized noise” as they call it, the song’s sure to be stuck in everyone’s head as the trees are trimmed and gifts are wrapped.

“Sleigh Ride” will be available to download for free on Coach’s site on Wednesday, November 28th while the products featured are available in Coach stores and through a special e-commerce Coach boutique!

Day 1 Evening Wrap-Up

photo c/o @DeidreDoom

Not unlike 2011, Pivot Conference 2012 was jam-packed with vivacious speakers and more industry heavy-hitters than you’ll read about in Forbes. As my second year in attendance at Brian Solis’s Pivot Conference, I had the pleasure of seeing some old friends, some familiar faces and some bright-eyed newbies. Here is a recap of the 2012 Pivot Conference from Day 1, the afternoon addition.

Crowdsourcing to Musical Stardom

My personal highlight of the day was when musical group Karmin took the stage. As a fan, I love hearing how modern celebrities used social media to build their following as opposed to taking the traditional routes. Karmin got their start by creating eclectic and fun covers of popular songs. A common Youtube trend, cover songs can grow to be just as popular as the original rendition. Although Karmin used the intentional cover song strategy, their charisma and talent brought their popularity to the next level.

The votes are tallied and Rolling Stone is pleased to announce Karmin as the winner of our “Women Who Rock” flip cover contest.

In partnership with Garnier Fructis, Rolling Stone's “Women Who Rock” contest celebrates the diverse array of female artists currently dominating the music world. Karmin singer Amy Heidemann will grace the flip cover of the iconic “Women Who Rock” issue, on newsstands Sept. 28th, and the duo is featured in the magazine along with other female musicians.

Karmin took the internet by storm last year after posting a cover of Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now" on YouTube. The clip instantly went viral and became one of YouTube's most viewed videos of 2011. The duo has since released debut album Hello and racked up over half a billion views for their videos.

"Congratulations to Karmin!" says Nathan Brackett, Rolling Stone Deputy Managing Editor. "They approached the 'Women Who Rock' contest like they've approached the rest of their career – with a lot of hard work, enthusiasm and a real grassroots talent for connecting with their fans. They've earned this."
